Gospel Mission Involved in Rescue These past
weeks have shown us all a country in crisis, then a country united. Our thoughts
and prayers are with all who have lost loved ones are themselves victims, or are
brave heroes working diligently to bring recovery to our nation. In thinking
about the New York tragedy, I reflected on the operations of rescue and
recovery. New York is now in a recovery operation, whereas Hope Gospel Mission
is in a rescue operation. The Mission has worked hard to bring living people up
out of the rubble of their lives long before the September 11 tragedy. Chippewa
Valley’s homeless need rescue from broken lives, broken marriages, drugs,
alcohol, and even anger. They need rescue just as much as the folks in New York
needed rescue. I also
pondered how rescuers are working around the clock 24 hours a It appears
the New York crisis may have indirectly caused a slight crisis of our own. As
you know, we do not take government funding, only private. While abundant funds
have been directed toward rescue efforts in New York, we have experienced a
tightening in our own. We are praying that God will continue to touch the hearts
of those who will again reach out to the needy right here at home. Sheriff Ron
Kramer recently credited Hope Gospel Mission with helping to significantly
reduce the number of inmates in our local jails. Hope Gospel Mission is reaching
men, meeting needs, and offering training to become self-sufficient citizens. Please help
us in our rescue efforts. There are many exciting opportunities ahead to offer
rescue and hope to the men in our community. Let’s all claim Job 29:11& 12
and reach out to the poor. Job 29:11-12
says, “When the ear heard, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw, then it
approved me; because I delivered the poor who cried out, and the fatherless and
he who had no helper.” NKJV Gary
